Diya Handwoven Area Rug
With its warm earth tones and abstract design, this flatweave rug infuses a hint of artistry to any space. Made using soft, yet durable cotton, this stunner is incredibly versatile, ready to bring a pop of color and pattern where it goes.
Handwoven horizontally on the ground to achieve maximum precision, each rug is made from 100% cotton that’s dyed and spun in-house. From prepping the yarn to weaving, washing, and finishing, each rug is made in a fair trade working environment in Jaipur, India.
We recommend using a rug pad to prevent wrinkles and slippage.

Our rugs are handcrafted to last a lifetime, made using the highest quality natural fibers – no synthetic materials like viscose, rayon, or polyester are used.
Basic care:
Because each rug is handcrafted with only natural materials, it is normal to see loose fibers or shedding in the first six months.
Vacuum lightly at least once a week using only low suction and no beater brush, as this may damage the rug. More frequent vacuuming will help prevent shedding.
Avoid placing rugs in prolonged direct sunlight as this can cause fading.
Rotate your rug every 3-6 months. This will help prevent excessive wear and fading in one area.
The use of a rug pad will keep your rug lying smooth and flat and will help prevent slippage.
Treating stains:
Blot spills immediately with a clean cloth - act quickly to prevent drying. Avoid harsh chemicals and household cleaners as they may damage or fade the rug. When in doubt, professional cleaning is always best.

I wish I could include a photo with this review. I ordered the Diya Area Rug in size 8x10 for my dining room. I received the rug rolled up in a tube however when I unpackaged it there was a grid of creases across the rug like it had been stored folded up for a long time. I left it to relax flat in a clear area for 2 weeks and then tried various strategies to remove the creases like ironing and steaming but they won’t budge. Finally I reached out to customer service asking for advice on how to remove the creases and included photos and the methods I had already attempted and received a boilerplate response that did not address anything I laid out in my email. I love the style of the rug but the wrinkled mess it presents makes my dining room look cheap and tacky- definitely not worth the hefty price tag and being ignored when requesting help. I have several other pieces from the citizenry that are many years old, are fantastic quality, and still look brand new so this was very unexpected.

Great Pattern, Colors More Brown & Taupe
Have purchased before from The Citizenry and love the quality and looks available. I was hoping for a more "rust" tone like the images online for my back sunroom, however, the rug is much more brown and taupe in coloring. I have a picture of the actual rug which I would love to include for others looking online, but doesn't appear there is a way to include. Please just note, this is not a rust tone rug - think very brown and taupe in tone. So it might work for you if looking for these colors.

Exactly as pictured. Got this rug in a smaller size to put under my desk but I feel like this rug is too good for the floor. I plan to hang it on display, so now I'm looking for a new rug :)
