With their intricate traditional design, this handwoven basket is both remarkably durable and stylish. The mix of materials, graphic pattern, and stark palette add a stunning statement to any room.
The “wishing basket” lid, of native Ugandan style, makes it a versatile storage space. Leave off the lid for a unique planter or umbrella holder in your entryway; or close it up to stow away an assortment of items.
Handwoven by a cooperative of twenty women, tucked away in the Rwenzori Mountains, each basket takes weeks to complete. Made exclusively in a fair trade environment.

Our baskets are sturdy, strong, and flexible, made to withstand constant use. If properly cared for, your basket will live a long life.
Dust your woven basket on a regular basis, wiping with a damp cloth if necessary. No other cleaning should be necessary.
Changes in temperature and humidity may cause your basket to expand and contract, which may make securing the lid difficult at times. Be patient and wait for the weather to change or remove from areas with high humidity (like bathrooms).

Well made and perfect size
I was looking for something made of natural material to put in a small powder room. The scale and design of this basket was perfect. When I want to change things up, I am sure I can find many other places around the house for it. It was out of stock and when it was available, I snatched one up right away.

This basket is very beautifully woven and the lid fits very securely on it. I only wish it was slightly bigger.

Loved it but it's moldy now
I've had this nzuri basket for almost 2 years now. I originally bought it to use as a laundry bin because I loved the idea of being able to close it and not see the clothes, however it's much too small for that. Instead, I was using it to store an extra blanket next to our couch. I loved this basket and got so many compliments on it. But then we stopped using the basket (we were just folding up the blanket on the arm of the couch) and within 2 months of no use, it grew mold all over it. I have lots of natural woven things around the house and this is the first one I've seen grow mold. The top seems fine still, so now I'm going to use that as wall decor, but still sad to have to throw away this basket.

Beautiful, but not quite right in size
This is a beautifully made basket. Durable and substantial in weight. Definitely a statement piece. Unfortunately I didn’t end up keeping it because of the size. Not big enough for storing toys in my living space or even a throw with an extra pillow. The size is an in-between size that doesn’t leave a lot of options for practical use. Decoratively, it’s beautiful, but not much in functionality for my intended use.
