Salma Hand-Knotted Area Rug
Our most traditional rug has timeless appeal. Knotted by hand in the mountains of Afghanistan, this beautiful area rug features three medallions at its heart, accented with nomadic shapes and motifs along its borders. Available in both rust and navy, this wool rug is truly like no other.
Each rug is made with wool that is hand-dyed, then meticulously tied with a Persian knot, with up to 80 knots per square inch. Crafted by master artisans in Afghanistan, each rug takes 4-5 months to complete. All made start-to-finish in a fair trade working environment.

United StatesGreat quality rug, slow to deliver
I grew up buying rugs with my family in India and seeing the range in quality first hand. This rug meets that quality in terms of the weave, color, and texture. The rug could be a little thicker. It definitely gives our living room that polished look and pulls together the existing shades of white, blue, black and grey that we already had in the space. The delivery experience was not great. For the price of the rug and white glove delivery fee, the delivery partner used was pretty terrible. Citizenry said they were transitioning to a new service provider but it took beyond the 2-4 week window that was listed online. During the delivery they did a great job in terms of placing it inside our home. Leading up to it both Citizenry and the delivery company did not communicate anything timely. The rug was delayed by several weeks even though it was listed as in stock. Then, the delivery partner did not schedule it based on my availability so it was delayed even further. Overall, glad we received it. The rug is great if you’re willing to wait over a month to get it.
